Sales at the Fairtrade stall at St James were over £260 in 2011. Please see Ruth if there is a Fairtrade product you would like to buy regularly, or if there is an unusual item you need and Ruth will ask if it can be added to our stall as either a regular item or a one-off.
Fairtrade Fortnight is from 27th March - 11th March with events planned nationally and locally in Warrington. The theme this year is 'Take a Step' for Fairtrade and we are asking everyone to take a step for Fairtrade, such as swapping your tea for Fairtrade tea if you're new to Fairtrade, or make a bigger step such as get your whole office to swap to Fairtrade drinks if you've already made a personal swap.
Check the Fairtrade Foundation's website for more details and to register your 'Step for Fairtrade

The church was officially certified a Fairtrade Church by the Fairtrade Foundation in 2008.

Fairtrade Standards
Fair Trade exists not as a charity but as a practical campaign to change the way the world trades and ensure the producers at the bottom of the trade chain are paid a fair price for their work. It also prevents them being exploited and forced into unsustainable and dangerous work practices.
The Fair Trade standards stipulate that traders must:
- pay a price to producers that covers the costs of sustainable production and living
- pay a 'premium' that producers can invest in development
- make partial advance payments when requested by producers;
- sign contracts that allow for long-term planning and sustainable production practices
Its not just the church and market stall that sell Fair Trade. Many supermarkets; Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, the Co-op, sell a range of products and own label Fairtrade products.
